What makes Write LA different?

We’re writers just like you, and we know exactly how hard it is to succeed in this business.

With this competition, we’ve worked incredibly hard to curate a set of prizes that will advance the careers of writers in tangible ways – through access to representation, access to the Industry, a once-in-a-lifetime live read experience, and more.

Check our reviews on FilmFreeway and Moviebytes. (Moviebytes selected Write LA as a Top Contest to Enter in 2020 & 2021!)

Film and TV Scripts Judged Together

We’re looking for great stories, regardless of genre or style. Film or TV, comedy or drama, sci-fi or gory horror — we’re looking at your overall skills as a writer.

A Select Group of Judges

We don’t farm judging out to unknown readers. Our judges do all reading in-house, and we have a head judge with a name, a face, and a real desire to find the very best writers.

A Live Read Event Unlike Any Other

The winner will have their entire script read on stage by truly talented professional actors in LA. The reading will be video recorded, and you’ll be able to invite your network to attend.

Helpful Prizes for the Top 15

We want every entrant to benefit, not just the winner. We work hard to spread the love as far and wide as we can.

I can’t recommend this contest enough. … JUST DO IT!

Michi Broman
2018 WRITE LA SEMIFINALIST

"Write/LA was a great experience! … We got long, informative meetings with actual industry insiders (a major studio exec & a working network staff writer – not the way some competitions set you up with people on the fringe of the industry). … And we even got engraved glass awards – super classy!"

"Thank you so much for these notes. These are the most coherent, straight-forward, ACTIONABLE notes I’ve received on this script yet."

"A quality well run event. Tim and his team should consult for other competitions. This is the way it should be done. I did not win, but will use Tim’s advice to improve my future scripts."
